I'll reply about ENPC for the benefit of others who may have questions. ENPC
is an ENA course. It is a two or two and an half day course worth 18.6 CECH.
There are four skill stations taught; Pediatric Multiple Trauma, Pediatric
Resuscitation, Triage and Pediatric Considerations ( a potpourri of medication
administration, IV/IO access, pain management, postioning and securing and
airway management). For more information go to ena.org or call Donna Massey,
Associate Executive Director of Education at 800-900-9659 ext. 4085 or your ENA
State Council President or State Pediatric Committee Chair. You get so much
more bang for your buck with ENPC and the course only has to be re-taken every
four years as opposed to every 2 with PALS. I highly recommend it.

Sally,
Is ENPC an ENA course? We use PALS and ATCN here in Phoenix, and I am
not all that familiar with ENPC--where could I get more information?

I would like to encourage you guys that require PALS to consider ENPC as
an alternative. It is so much more comprehensive than PALS and covers
the resuscitation material that PALS does. I know ENPC is not as
available in some areas but where it is available, it is head and
shoulders above PALS for nurses.

Level one hospital here. We require ACLS and PALS within one year and
TNCC within 2 years and we encourage ATCN.

Can anyone tell me what you have in place as far as requirements for
nursing
education for the ED RNs? For example, are they required to have ACLS,
TNCC? I am especially interested in what the Level 2 hospitals are
providing and requiring. Thank you.
