I work at Froedtert
Hospital, the only Level I trauma center in southeastern Wisconsin.
I forwarded your question to
our patient relations department. They replied that "arrangements
were made with local hotels and motels to give patient and
families discounted rates. Then we have access to Kathy's
House, which is not a part of Froedtert,
but works with us - it was started by a private donation from a family of
a cancer patient. At Kathy's House, they do
ask for a donation...what the folks can afford. We
also have three Gridley Homes that can be used for temporary stays at a price...$1000 for the Home per month with
EVERYTHING included and the Apartment @ $800 per month with
same amenities. Our Guest Relations
Specialist swork with and
contact insurance agencies to determine if they will pay
for housing...for bone marrow transplant
patients (who need close temporary housing) the likelihood is
good."
We do have a "Friends of
Froedtert" foundation that raises money, some earmarked for specific
departments/causes, some with no strings. As far as I know they do not
help out with trauma patients' families housing.
Might not be the answer you
were looking for - but that's what we do. Good
luck!
Hi Everyone,
I am interested in know if there are Trauma
Centers that have a special fund to provide room and board assistance to
trauma patient families. I am interested in knowing what you call
these funds and how you raise funding. Any policies and guidelines
that you have in place and would be willing to share would be greatly
appreciate.
Have a great day,
Dianne
