Subject: [traumanurses] ED staffing patterns
Query for the list.
We are a busy rural Level III hospital. ED sees 33,500+ patients a year and
growing.
It is staffed with 5 RNs per 12 hour shift The staff is running ragged, very
short lunch breaks, limited time to do patient teaching etc.
No one has time for trauma education, etc. ED doc's have no interest in
trauma.
A consulting firm feels we are staffed very well for the numbers we see.
What are staffing patterns in your ED????
Any info appreciated.
