We also did a pilot study on this which demonstrated that the auto BP in
resus patients was highly inaccurate, we thought due to shivering,
interference from people putting in lines, movement, poor BP etc. We
couldn't get compliance from staff to perform a decent randomised trial,
so if you have done that I would LOVE to see it!

We are in the process of finalizing a retrospecific study of manual vs
automated BP's on trauma patients. The preliminary results are pretty
impressive to show that automated is inaccurate (false highs) on most
hypotensive trauma patients. As soon as it is complete I would be glad

I am also interested in knowing if there is data somewhere that supports
the
practice of manual BP's. Our Biomed people check for accuracy of our
monitoring equipment for accuracy. It has been our practice to do
manual
BP's on patients who present either extremely high or low. Thank you
