RE:Space Blankets
We are a Level I facility and we use the Bear Hugger warmer, warmed blankets, and warmed IV fluid. We start the Bear hugger in the Trauma Bay and we also have them in the ICU's. Level I has a warming kit that is used with a special line that accesses the artery and vein similar to a dialysis catheter and you can warm the patient rather quickly this way.

Liz, We have not used the space blanket but are investigating its use for
transporting patients from CCU to Cat Scan or OR who are cold. Some of the
pre hospital services in our area are using them. I would also like any
information. Thanks April
