My full time QI nurse is dedicated to QI but does a lot of data watching and manages the QI database.  Other duties include chairmanship of the Trauma Systems Committee, membership on all trauma related committees and "duties as assigned"  I recommend that the QI coordinators do some general trauma registry data entry as part of the orientation so that 1:  They know what the registry is, the data points, the criteria for the data points, the filters, etc  2. So that they can monitor the quality of the registry. 3.  So that they are cross trained to fill in prn.

For those of you who have a dedicated FTE working on the QI/PI within your
programs, I have a couple of questions

1) Is this person an RN or someone with a medical records background?
2) Does this FTE also do data entry for the registry
3) Any other support responsibilities?

Thanks in advance for your answers
