Catherine,
How many patients do you admit per year? I would be very careful in
accepting any case management responsibilities in addition to your current job.
Especially if it means doing the discharge planning which is very time consuming
with these sorts of patients. In addition, case management requires a different
skill set than management which takes time to develop. This is not something
that can be done effectively if you are splitting your time between two sets of
role responsibilities unless the number of patients remains manageable
(ie:10).

Dear List:
I am a trauma coordinator in a level II trauma
center in Northern CA.
My trauma director and administration are now
talking about having me case manage the trauma
patients.
Does anyone have a job description for trauma
coordinator/trauma case manager?
Thanks,
