Mike,
Check your state laws. Here in Georgia, there is a state law on the
books that EMS must transport the patient to the facility of their request
regardless of whether it is on diversion or if it would be the most
appropriate facility for them - e.g. a trauma patient to a non-trauma center
or a child to a non-pediatric facility.
We are working toward a change, but it is slow.

question. Has ANYONE ever heard a law/rule that patients can
request to goto
ANY facility they choose EVEN if that facility is on
diversion. Here in
Arizona (specifically phoenix/ the valley) Paramedics as
well as BLS rigs
often bring in patients to our facility when we are on
diversion due to
'patient request' and i am told there is nothing we can do
about it. I have
read all of the AZ AEMS guidelines and there isnt anything
in there that
states that a patient can request a facility on diversion.
any
                ideas/responses?
