Mike:
We have had the same type of stance in Riverside County California. It
has never been in print that this was in fact "the policy." The first time
patient request and diversion were listed in the same policy was in an
update put out this week which actually addressed a separate issue. It was
brought in as a one liner near the bottom of the policy than essentially
patient request was to be honored regardless of diversion status, it really
caught my eye. We have always honored the patient request, however, it
appears to now have more policy based credence.
