We use them quite a bit. Nursing, DC planning, Social Service, Supervisors, Pharmacy, many people. All of our ED MD's carry them. They are under the same confidentaility guidelines as any other phone calls. The biggest issue is where you are when the phone rings and who can hear you. According to Hipaa it is an incidental exposure if someone over hears you, so it is not a violation. Common sense must prevail!

Does anyone have nurses carry cordless phones in their hospital?  If you do, is their a policy regarding confidentiality or does their use fall under the general confidentiality guidelines.

Thanks
