We have trauma comfort kits that are supplied with many personal items,
clothing, phone cards, Dunkin Doughnut cards, chapstick, etc. A church in our
community supplies the items each month and the trauma nurses make up the kits
according to patient needs.

I get the Traumaroo coloring books from the ATS and stamp my hospital name
on the back. You can purchase a carton of several small boxes of crayons
pretty cheap at Staples- slap a sticker with your name on the side. I also
have some cool sand pails and shovels with our logo on the side for event
give aways. They are a fun summer item and a big hit.

Subject: [traumanurses] Trauma Give-aways

Hi,
Does anyone have trauma give-aways used to comfort and/or educate patients?
We are a pediatric hospital and are considering giving away stuffed animals
to incoming patients, and are looking for advice.
thanks,
Vinita Knight

I will email you my job description. I work with both the orthopaedic
surgeons and our general surgeons in relation to trauma. We also have a
CNS that just does the general surgery side of trauma. I don't have her
job description on computer but I will try to get a copy I could send to
you. Hope this helps!
