If you recall Dr. Knudson mentioned this during her presentation at the STN
conference in Vegas..as something that trauma nurses may / could / should
(?) be trained in, in the future.

Subject: [traumanurses] FAST Ultrasound
Dear Kathy:
I have never heard of anyone who has nurses doing this. I would check
with the State Board of Nursing in any state where this would be
considered. It would be outside of the scope of practice in the two
states where I hold licenses. This may not be the case for Advanced
Practice Nurses under their state practice.

Are there any Trauma Centers out there where the Nurse is performing the
FAST ultrasound, or anyone considering it?

Subject: [traumanurses] Ultrasound in the Emergency Department
Would you please share with me whether or not ultrasound is provided in
your
Emergency Department by physicians? If so, which physician does the
procedure and who interprets the results?
Which physicians are credentialed to do ultrasound procedures in the
Emergency Department?
Thank you!
