Hello All,
Our facility recently purchased a Ranger Rapid Infuser/Blood Warmer. We are
trying to write a reasonable policy that will include how many units of
blood/volume of blood can be infused before the tubing/filter has to be
changed, ect... I did contact the manufacturer and was told to "adhere to
hospital policy." I was also told that the AABB generally recommends blood
tubing be changed after 4 units (or 4 hours-not really applicable for a
rapid infuser). The anesthesiologist and surgeons do not think that
changing after 4 units is a reasonable policy-and not what is usually done.
Therefore, I am looking for examples of policies for the Ranger rapid
infuser/warmer and examples of what is done in other facilities.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
