I made my MD's make a "commitment" statement before I told them about the billing opportunities for trauma. My pediatricians stated that they wanted to be involved from the point of intake to discharge or transfer. I then took all of the commitment statements and gave a copy to each of the services so that all the MD's would know where each other stood. Since this time we have not had any problems with our pediatricians coming in and being involved - even at 3 am and even if we are only stabilizing and transferring - they are here and helping us locate an accepting hospital.
