Denver Health is a Level I.  We use a combination approach.  Our ICU cases are abstracted concurrently by a RN so we have immediate PI information which is passed on to the Trauma Coordinators.  Other, less critcal cases, are done retrospectively by non-RN staff.

Subject: [traumanurses] Abstracting for Registry

How is everyone completing the abstracts for entry into the trauma registry?  We are trying to determine how best to approach this.  I am thinking it best to either complete them myself, that way I have immediate access to PI issues.  I have also had some suggestions to look into the utilization of  case managers for this also.

What thoughts do you all have?  We are a new program.

Thanks,
