As the number of patients admitted as a result of violence increases,
we are finding our old way of dealing with these "No Report" patients
is less than secure or ideal. So here are the questions:
1. What system of ID'ing the patients do you use for the patient
board in the unit or floor? We currently use the name "Troperon" --
no report spelled backwards, but when you have more than two on a
floor, the families/friends figure it out pretty quickly.
2. Do any of you have a hospital policy as to "traffic" control with
these patients, i.e. immediate family only, no if-ands-buts? And are
willing to share that policy so I can take it up the food chain as an
example?
3. How do you handle it when family members give out the "password or
code" to other folks so they can come in to see the patient?
Thanks again for all your assistance!
