I realize that this has been discussed in this forum before, but I again
have some questions regarding practice related to DVT mechanical
prophylaxis in the critically ill patient. What are you doing with
regard to any nursing protocols related to length of time sequentials
must remain on, if they are off, how long is safe, can they be replaced
if off for a certain amt of time etc. Also- on a related note, what are
you doing to meet DVT proph. needs of Bariatric patients? And finally,
when patients have been started on Lovenox- is it your practice to
continue mechanical prophylaxis. I am wading through the literature,
but am also just seeing what others have done and what support they have
from literature etc.. Thanks.
