We are a Level II ACS verified facility - 24 hour pharmacist in house (with
one pharmacist and one tech at night).

We also are very fortunate to have pharmacy respond to our trauma alerts,
they assist with finding out drugs pts may be on at home, Tetanus status,
RSI drug dosing, pain management, etc. It has been an eye opener for me to
see how much they contribute to the team. They round with us M-F and help
with drug interactions, lab value analysis, with drug recommendations, and
cost containment. I would recommend highly to everyone !

We are a non-verified level II and We have 24 hour a day pharmacy, however
that was new in as of August 2003. Prior to that, the nursing supervisor
had access to the pharmacy for whatever we did not have in the Pyxis.

Lisa,
Our House Supervisors have access to the pharmacy during off hours to
retrieve needed meds with protocols in place. We have a pharmacist on-call
24/7 for questions or to come in for emergency medication needs. We are ACS

Hi,

I had an interesting question posed to me today and was wondering what
rationales / issues (pro's / cons) that you could share with me regarding
the availablity of a 24-hour pharmacist.

ACS says nothing - our state regs say nothing. When you respond can you
share the facility level designation / verification that you are.

Thanks
